How to Post on X

To Post on X like a Pro
People use X (formerly known as Twitter) for all sorts of reasons -- to find out what’s happening in the world right now, to share information and to connect with other users.

To get started:

  • Go to x.com and sign up for a free account.
    • Do so by entering your name, email address, and desired password in the provided space.
    • On the X homepage, type your update into the post box just below your name. You can also click the post button to start a new post from any page. Every post has an author, an avatar, a username (preceded by the @ symbol) and a maximum of 240 characters of text. Don't worry, X will count the characters for you. If you go over the limit, try using abbreviations or rephrasing some of your sentences.
  • Click the post button when you're ready to post. Your post appears immediately in the timeline.
  • If you want to pass along a tweet that you liked to your followers, click "repost." You can also type in your message and put “RP” and the person’s username before the entire string. For example, RP @username (the original tweet here). You will see the posts from the people you follow and vice versa.

How to use the #AAAAI26 hashtag

Hashtags are one of the most important and efficient ways of organizing information on X. A hashtag is simply a way for people to search for posts that have a common topic. Anyone can make a hashtag at any time, simply by typing a phrase of the form “#topic” in a post. To use the #AAAAI26 hashtag, type your post, including #AAAAI26 within the body of the tweet. Clicking on the hashtag in the post allows you to see all the posts using that hashtag. This is a way to organize your posts from the annual meeting and other topics of interest to the AAAAI.
